New Albany United Methodist Church
Design and Ministry Needs
Rev. Frank Luchsinger had confidence in the McKnight Group from his experience partnering with on other projects at his previous church. When New Albany United Methodist Church needed to plan for expansion, he did not hesitate to give The McKnight Group a call. Through the design process, a Master plan was developed and Phase I was established. The project went through a lengthy approval process due to the very detailed and unique zoning regulations of the area.
Highlights
The drive-under canopy allows for people to be dropped off at the new main foyer entrance before entering the 300 seat Worship Center. The foyer is set up to connect to a future phase of the facility and to be a central hub through the building. The foyer has a large outdoor porch and in nice weather the doors can be pushed open to combine the outdoor space with the main foyer. The lower level was left unfinished, but is set up to build out as classrooms and youth space in the future.
Results
The project was constructed through the Covid years and opened to people eager to get back into a worship service. The people enjoy worshiping in a modern facility with a traditional feel. Due to the strict nature of zoning in the area, the exterior of the building had to appear as a 19th century church to match the community around it.
